To import and export the settings, right click the main template window background area and a menu will pop-up.
Exporting (or backing up) the settings is a good idea when you are changing things in case you want to return to a previous configuration.
It is also helpful for creating several computers with the same settings - simply export from the source computer and import on each of the new computers.
