GPS File Selection

Top  Previous  Next

GPS File selection is very powerful if you need to sort files into various folders based on where they were taken.

Your camera needs an internal or external GPS to utilise this filter.

To include location based filtering, click the GPS filters button on the action File Specification panel.

Once the GPS Filters dialog box is open, you can add, edit, delete, preview or change the order of your GPS Filter Areas.

The Filter processes the areas in order to determine if a photo is included or excluded from the action.

For instance, if the first area is large (say the western section of a zoo), you may define a smaller area within it to exclude a smaller section of this area to exclude, for instance, a Koala enclosure that you want to process the photos separately for.

You can include and exclude as many areas as you want.  Remember that the last area matched for a file's GPS position will define it's inclusion or exclusion from the action.  If a file does not match any area, it is excluded from the filter.

Adding a GPS Area is easy.  Simply press the Add New Area button to see the dialog below:

Enter a description, choose the shape and enter the coordinates or radius as required.

For circles: a Latitude and Longitude for the circle center plus a radius in meters.
For Squares, a Lat.Long for the Top/Left corner and a Lat/Long for the Bottom/Right corner.

You can also choose whether this area include or exclude files.

The View area on map button is convenient to preview the area on a Google Map.

In this case it's a circular area in a park in Tokyo!
